Also Paul Raison, an advisor and confidant of the Minister of Economy, sometimes falls into irrational dreams, while his family life is on the verge of demise. Although they live with a woman in a luxury apartment in the middle of Paris, they have long since alienated each other. Nor do they have children, although those "are no longer enough to save the couple". He does not understand his siblings: his sister from the poor industrial region remained as a strongly believer in the household, his brother gets stupid by his wife and lives only for restoration of tapestries. He and his father see more of a duty, his father's mate is afraid of him.
