History is a big book of stories lived by real people. And often stories so interesting that a novelist's imagination would not be enough to invent them. History is not given once and for all. The view of it changes over the years and with new knowledge, sometimes a different era looks at history with different eyes, other times an event that we have overlooked until now emerges from the darkness of oblivion. That is why it makes sense to return to the stories of history, to the familiar ones - because we can perceive them with different eyes, and to the forgotten ones - because they can change our view of a certain time and the life of the people in it.
