When Angelika Stein is kicked out of school at the age of fifteen, her dream seems to have vanished. No photographer in Kassel wants to accept a girl as an apprentice, and one who still hasn't finished school. But Angelika doesn't give up - and finally a photographer who recently escaped from the GDR gives her a chance.

At the same time, top gymnast Kristýna Magoldová is diligently training in East Berlin so that she can represent the GDR at the Olympic Games. But is this really her dream? During the construction of the Berlin Wall in 1961, the two women meet under dramatic circumstances.
