The main character Martin, an ordinary thirteen-year-old boy, spends a carefree summer at his great-uncle's castle. Unexpectedly, however, he finds himself in the ancient past, where he must follow the Czech forefathers to the promised land.
A path full of pitfalls, adversities and dangers awaits him. The cruel Morana and her ruthless servant Zmej, a dragon creature from the underground, want to destroy him. Again and again, Martin must overcome his fear and muster the courage to face evil. But where to take so much strength and confidence and raise the sword?
Together with our hero, readers will experience an adventurous journey to the mythical center of the Czech land and meet face to face with the legendary figures of our nation - three future princesses and the knights of Blanice.
The author draws her subject from Slavic mythology, and above all from legends, as described by Kosmas in his chronicle almost nine hundred years ago. He narrates one of the oldest legends in a captivating way, completely in his own way.
