The syllabary is the first of a set of Czech language textbooks for the first year. The set also consists of a workbook - The syllabary with a quatrefoil and a methodical guide for teachers - Methodology with a quatrefoil. The syllabary connects the genetic and analytical-synthetic method, and to a greater extent develops auditory perception as a necessary prerequisite for reading. The textbook works with the graphic recording of the word as an important exercise for distinguishing between short and long syllables, which later helps children write words. The composition of syllables is postponed to a later time, only after consistently mastering the determination of the initial and final sounds by ear, determining the position of the sound in the word.

Syllabic's big plus is its clarity - it connects a picture and a letter, a picture and a word, a picture and a sentence. Pictorial material helps to understand the meaning of words or sentences. Reading begins gradually so that even children who need more time to get used to school work can be successful. On the other hand, it also provides enough stimuli for more gifted children. The syllabary also offers a varied palette of intersubject relationships.
