On the door of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson on Baker Street is knocking a young man named Peter Maugham. Maugham's uncle recently died after an unfortunate fall down the stairs and his will disappeared. Maugham therefore fears that he will lose her inheritance and soon finds himself completely without resources. Sherlock, whose case is interested, agrees to take him in charge.

While Holmes and Watson are deep into the murky past of the Maugham family, there is a series of mysterious iron men in London, who forcibly enter the homes of a rich cream and take their most valuable property. Can Holmes solve both cases before anyone dies?
