Leonid Nikolaevich Andreyev (1871–1919) was a writer and playwright, one of the most diverse representatives of Russian literature. Under the influence of Schopenhauer's philosophy, he devoted himself to life and death and depicted human life deeply pessimistic. In short stories it is possible to trace the influence of Dostoyevsky. Satan's diary wrote shortly before his death and captured the demise of human civilization. The amendment is published in the new translation of Jakub Šedivý.
