This time, the well-known author duo presents a book of twenty-five "biographies" of selected personalities from the literary and artistic world, who are no longer with us, but with whom Zdena Bratršovská and František Hrdlička met and often established intensive contact with them (we mention Jaroslav Foglar , Vladimíra Justl, Ester Krumbachová, Alfred Radok, Josef Topol). At the same time, these character traits deviate from the usual historical portraits or studies about the life and work of the given creators. As is typical for this author duo, they approach the legacy of well-known and unjustly forgotten personalities in a peculiar way, often from a very personal, all the more interesting angle, in which what surprises us or what we would not expect in connection with the creators in question comes to the fore. Even in this volume, the authors do not deny their informal approach and sense of detail. In their portraits, perhaps the most revealing and interesting concept of the phenomenon of human encounter and encounter, which are depicted against the background of one time more favorable, the other time depressing times. However, it is time that spans human characters, on which the attention of the authors of this exceptional, somewhat controversial book is primarily concentrated.
