What makes a person an adult? Is it age? Parenthood? Ability to secure yourself financially? Does maturity consist in the art of coping with life's difficulties and not breaking down? Máša is an infantile thirty-year-old girl who suffers from an eating disorder and coincidentally spends the entire summer in Prague. When she finds herself with almost no money and no job, she has to make compromise decisions that don't always correspond to her principles. The main character experiences incredible events and situations and discovers the non-tourist side of Prague, which plunges her into the vortex of nightlife. While searching for her place in Prague, she meets Ukrainian women who have found their own ways to live, or at least survive, in this city. The book New in Town is a true story about immigration, cleansed of stereotypes and over-romanticization of life abroad. It is a novel about the illusion of a successful life as presented through social media. It is also about the strength of women who have to support their families alone.
