What did our highest mountains look like in the time of the first skiers and tourists? Which mountain cottages still stand intact and which would we look in vain? How did women ski in skirts and hats? The first professional and amateur photographers left the testimony. More than 140 images were selected, edited and added by the photographer and owner of the family collection of old photographs by Pavel Scheufler. The preface to the book was written by an aesthetist and historian of natural sciences Karel Stibral. The publication is not only a valuable testimony to the transformation of our highest mountains, but also instructions on how to read photos to hear the engaging stories they tell us.
