The aim of the book is to bring readers closer to the breeds of horses bred in the territory of our republic, which of course includes both breeds that have a stud book kept in the territory of the Czech Republic, but also other breeds that do have a stud book kept abroad, but their breeding is already widespread in our country. Breeds that are not traditional in our territory are also marginally mentioned, but there are efforts to breed them. In the beginning of the book, attention is paid to the history of horse breeding in the Czech Republic, but also to the organization of horse breeding at the present time, and to the most current knowledge regarding the origins and kinship relationships of individual breeds. The section devoted to individual breeds has a uniform structure, includes subsections Origin of the breed, focusing on the historical circumstances of their origin. The entire book is complemented by Lenka Stříbrná's impressive photographs, including stallions of most of the presented breeds, mares with foals, or other non-breeding individuals, most often in the form of portraits, with examples of the use of individual breeds (harness, dressage, jumping, racing examples, but also work in the forest ), but most impressively in the freedom of the pastures, where the natural beauty of the horses stands out. The book is supplemented by a list of the literature used, with a list of the most important books, magazine articles and other sources of information used.
