The book approximates the share of the secret services of individual powers in the development of World War II. It focuses on the largely unknown fates of individuals who took part in secret actions and often died during them. It thus represents secret operations, without knowledge of which the development of the entire war conflict cannot be understood. In his book, the author talks about ambushes, assassinations, kidnappings and risky espionage missions. It engagingly discusses, for example, the storming of Hitler's fortress in December 1941, the search for Hitler's secret weapon, the background to the assassination of Heydrich, Himmler's plan to assassinate Stalin, the Italian attempt to destroy the British naval base in Alexandria through suicide volunteers, the work of the American spy service to crack the Japanese military code and many other interesting events. Some missions are generally known, while the secrets of others have not been fully revealed to this day. However, they all bear witness to exceptional courage and dedication as a legacy valid even today.
