Karl Koutný's life is falling apart after he ends his career as a criminalist. His relationship with his partner fell apart, he is struggling professionally and solves his nightmares with alcohol. Although he tries to forget about the path of the investigator, he coincidentally discovers a hanged girl in the forest. Young Martin Tůma is put in charge of the hanging investigation as his first independent case. Everything points to the fact that it was a suicide and the superiors direct the young man to close the case. But he suspects that it was a murder.
