The panoramic novel Hopeful Prospects was considered by Charles Dickens to be the best of all his famous novels. Perhaps that is why he wrote it in the first person. It is a romantic story about human ambition, about the desire for wealth and recognition, about the cruel contradictions between the desires of the heart and reason. The hero experiences wild twists and turns in life, struggles with human pretense, lack of true understanding and loneliness, but never gives up. The hope of seeing through false illusions, of returning to the circle of good people and of love never leaves him and allows him to overcome all the traps of fate. Even in this extraordinary and dramatic novel, Dickens' imagination spins an optimistic "carnival of life", a succession of overwhelming joys and temporary sorrows. Difficulties, obstacles and anger can be overcome and are even good for something. The characteristics of the characters are more alive than life itself, the author does not allow boredom, nothing is ordinary. Life in its everyday life offers tremendous opportunities - just seize them correctly.
