The book monograph on Anička Tomanová z Pastviny introduces the personality of the modern-day Czech mystic (1907-1957) in the most comprehensive way to date, about whom several film documentaries have already been filmed. In the whole of Czech history, we do not find another figure more visibly connected to the suffering of Christ than the simple soul of a girl from the Eagle Mountains, bedridden for life from her childhood. Anička bore the difficult fate associated with the disease bravely and turned her attention to her inner self, where she connected with the One from whom we each carry and guard our greatest treasure – the immortal soul. The book is a colorful testimony of the time, during Anička's lifetime, monarchy alternated with democracy and Nazi and communist totalitarianism in Bohemia; above all, it gives us an insight into Anička's world and her heart, from which emanated great love for all people, especially priests and the entire Czech nation, for whom Anička sacrificed her suffering.
