How can the birds feel that the storms are approaching that we have no idea yet? How do they find their way to a thousand kilometers away when they were never there? How can they exactly imitate complex singing dozens of other species? How do they remember after six months, where did they hide food on an area of hundreds of square kilometers?
Perhaps the word genius is indeed on the spot.
We thought for a long time that the birds were solving the problems of the wings. It now turns out that they use a brain that equals the brain of primates with their performance, and in some respects even humans. Research in recent years has shown that although bird brains have a different structure than mammal brains, they do not interfere with them in their functionality. Birds simply found their own way to use their heads. Jennifer Ackerman traveled across the world to collect the latest knowledge in scientists and fields and create a comprehensible whole. She did not forget to add her typical humor, readability and perspective. Whoever you are, you will understand the phrase bird brain after reading this book quite differently.

Jennifer Ackerman (born 1959) has been writing for more than three decades about science, nature and human biology. Throughout his life, he has been trying to make knowledge available to the widest possible audience, to seek the place of man in the nature of the context, and to creatively think about scientific facts. Her style combines readability and engagement with previous careful research. This is her main gift, and thanks to this, her work receives repeated awards. Among other things, it received a scholarship of the US National Foundation for Literature in Fiction, Bunting's scholarship and grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.
He has had countless posts and articles in many publications, such as National Geographic and New York Times. Above all, he writes books. The Genius of Birds Genius is the latest of them, seventh.
We are happy to bring the author's work to Czech readers and we believe that you will be infected with her enthusiasm and love for the world around us.
