King John of Luxembourg tries to strengthen his position despite the resistance of magnates who imagined that inexperienced young man would become their puppet. Meanwhile, both Henry of Lipá and Peter of Rožmberk grows. However, the real heroes of the novel are, as in the previous book Knights from Vřesov, members of two Zeman families: Beneš and Čeněk of Vřesov, Lothar Katzinger of Olšová and his older brother Wolfram.
