The history of the Pernštejn family has its irreplaceable place in the history of Bohemia and Moravia. The book Lords of Pernštejn is the first comprehensive publication serving a picture of one of the oldest domestic noble families, which throughout its historically recorded existence has taken a significant position and the history of our countries significantly influenced from the Middle Ages to its extinction during the Thirty Years' War. Members of the noble family, who wore a symbol of the bison head on their gable, gained extraordinary power in the first half of the 16th century and represented the richest family in Bohemia. Numerous castles, chateaux, churches and historic cores of towns remind their fame. However, the Lords of Pernštejn remained another important legacy: awareness of permanent continuity in the flow of history, continuity of family, family, nation, humanity. Awareness of responsibility and the eternal duration of the consequences of our actions, which at a decisive moment outweighs the scales to the right side. On the pages of this book, the author presents the history of four centuries (1208-1646), seen by the development of one single family. It is worth special attention if several extremely active and purposeful individuals are born in one family who can direct and influence the development of the whole state. In the history of one family, the historical image of our country is faithfully reflected. The author of the book, complemented by more than a hundred black and white and color illustrations, with genealogical overviews and maps, does not deny the deep sympathy that binds him to the parts of the "bison of the bison". Sympathy enhanced by the genius loci of the Pernštejn family residence, in whose massive walls there are many secrets.
