celiac disease is not a rare disease. It is assumed that 40 - 50,000 people suffer from various forms in the Czech Republic, most of whom do not even know about their illness. Therefore, in the Czech Republic there are discussions around targeted screening (ie search for asymptomatic patients) and correct diagnostics to prevent complications of unrecognized celiac disease. Such complications include bone thinning, anemia, infertility or greater susceptibility to cancer.
