It is 1961 and the climate on the ground deteriorates sharply after the impact of the meteorite. The continents are plagued by wind storms and the temperature begins to rise. The colony on the moon is already fully in operation and people turn the eyes to Mars.

Despite personal victims and political tensions, Lady Astronaut Elma Yorková longs to participate in the first expedition to the Red Planet. As a woman in a typically male environment, however, it won't be easy.
Moreover, the tension on Earth is growing, as some people are worried that they will remain on the dying planet to their fate, and others do not recognize the equality of all. Humanity thus faces not only the outer threat caused by climate change, but also internal splits resulting from racial discrimination. Can people deal with their prejudices and pull one rope?

The leading American sci-fi and historical fantasy Mary Robinette Kowal has won a number of prestigious awards, including the Hugo Award for the Best Novel for 2019 or the Nebula novel for the best novel for 2018, for her trilogy on Lady Astronaut.
