Death can change the life of one by one waving their black wings. Which only when you are fourteen years old, your mother literally dies in front of your eyes, your dad falls into depression and cannot help you with your grief, so you are still in charge of a younger brother who somewhat mourn his own… German writer Stefanie Höfler It tells in ich-form a strong story of 14-year-old Ben. It takes place during the first week of the sudden death of Ben's mother with occasional reminiscences to the past. The author masterfully describes the individual characters, the process of mourning from the initial shock to reconciliation after the funeral. It shows that when help does not come from a mourning family, it can be found with a friend who has gone through a similar process.

"Glass in the morning," he murmured. "Did you sleep well?" I wondered if there would ever stop the fact that any common phrase sounds so inappropriate.
This was not of course Janus' guilt.
"No. At first I broke into a chapel on the cemetery to make my mom's coffin, and then seemed to me."
Janus stared at me badly.
"Do you talk? What did you do with that coffin?"
"Actually they just painted. The little girl thought that mom would like more colorful."
Janus laughed. "That's a guy," he evaluated the action acknowledgedly. "And you?"
"I helped him." Suddenly I was angry that I didn't get the idea with the coffin myself.
