1893: Augustin Rothmayer works as a gravedigger in the famous Viennese central cemetery. At the same time, the grumpy weirdo is very well -read and educated self -taught. In his free time he writes almanac for graves. Inspector Leopold von Herzfeldt, however, deprives him of peace. The young policeman needs an expert in everything related to death. He investigates the brutal murders of Viennese maids. Each of them was ruthlessly pierced by a stake. The gravedigger knows that in this way the dead have been kept in their graves from ancient times to not harm the living. Is the murderer in vampire raging in Vienna?
