Beroun and Hořovice are a unique area in which three protected landscape areas - the Czech Karst, Křivoklátsko and Brdy - meet. Thanks to the diversity of the environment, we find in our region a large part of the more than five thousand types of fungi described from the Czech Republic. Some even grow only here. This publication aims to acquaint readers with the selection of the most beautiful, precious and interesting mushrooms of our region. We would be pleased if the reader remembered after reading the book that the mushrooms do not only divide into edible and inedible, but that they have an important and irreplaceable place in the ecosystem, that we find them not only in the forest but also in places where we would not expect them, that many grow abundantly, but others are rare and protected by law and therefore we should not collect them. Mushrooms are not only "meat of the poor", but also an integral part and decoration of our nature. Photographically very richly illustrated publication follows the editorial series, which has already published the successful title "Underground of Beroun and Hořovice".
